Optical Illusion Creates Color Impression in Viewer's Mind

چکیده
CAN AN ORDINARY black-and-white TV receiver reproduce a color image? "No," you say. Wrong! Believe it or not, the answer is a resounding yes -provided the telecast is in "electronic" color using the Color-Tel subjective color process". Developed by James F. Butterfield, Sherman Oaks, California, electronic color is a remarkable TV broadcasting technique using relatively unknown optical principles to transmit a monochrome picture that appears to be in color when viewed on an ordinary black-and-white TV receiver. Actually, no color appears on the TV screen-it exists only subjectively in the brain of the viewer. Although most viewers see colors, there are some viewers who do not-for reasons not completely understood. On the other hand, normally color-blind people frequently report being able to see the electronic subjective color display.

[Influence of "optical illusion" on detectability in diagnosis for head CT images: participation of optical illusion of light perception in medical image reading and diagnosis].
Even if the visual impression of the photographic density of the brain in head CT images is shown as physically the same, it is known that optical illusions of lightness perception (assimilation, contrast, picture frame effect, etc.) occur and that practical density can be observed psychologically differently, according to differences in the color of the skull and background, and differences in...
متن کاملAndrew Ilyas and Nikhil Patil - Optical Illusions - Does Colour affect the illusion ?
3 The attributes of an optical illusion Optical illusions are meant to fool the mind. However, the way in which they do this differs with every illusion. Illusions can be classified based on their two main attributes of colour and geometry. One may think that the more attributes an illusion has, the better, but using all the attributes would upset the balance, making the illusion to confusing. ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Gaze on Optical Illusions
A comparison of human gaze patterns on illusions before and after a simple color manipulation is presented. The optical illusions used include Fraser’s illusion, Akiyoshi Kitaoka’s Rotating Snakes, and the Necker cube. All of these images were then modified in an attempt to render the illusion non-illusory. The images are then shown to 8 participants, split into two groups of 4. Each group will...

The works in Act/React create an impression of sociability through interactivity. In our encounters with other people, we take for granted the premise that social interaction involves autonomous beings who are aware of each other. Yet when the other is a machine, the autonomy and awareness exist primarily in the mind of the human: the sociability is subjective and the transparency or opaqueness...
